NAR Call For Action: Renew the NFIP
We’re only one month away from the next lapse of The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). Without Congressional action, the program is will expire on July 31, denying necessary insurance coverage to homeowners and buyers in more than 20,000 communities nationwide – including those right here in Maryland. Further, each lapse of the program puts 40,000 real estate transactions at risk for delay, or even cancellation, for each month that the program is inactive.
There are measures currently before Congress which reform and strengthen the NFIP to ensure long-term sustainability of the program. Take Action Today – Tell Congress they must act now to reform and extend the NFIP.
FCAR’s Industry Leaders Gather to Invest Over $12,000 for RPAC
One June 19, FCAR welcomed 40 of Frederick County’s top Realtors® to the Delaplaine Arts Center for our first ever FCAR Industry Leaders Reception. Following a cocktail reception and seated dinner, attendees heard from featured speakers on the important role RPAC plays in protecting the real estate industry. We could not be prouder of the response to this event and the $12,500 (and counting!) our agents and brokers invested that evening!
Our special thanks go to all who attended, and especially to the FCAR members who reached 2018 RPAC Major Investor ($1,000+) status:
Terry La Scola
- Thank you all for your contribution!
The REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) is the only PAC comprised entirely of REALTORS® and working for their benefit. FCAR Keeps Up Pressure on Monocacy River Plan
The Frederick County Council held yet another hearing on the controversial Monocacy River Scenic Management Plan on Tuesday evening, June 5. The purpose of this hearing was to consider a Council resolution addressing property rights issues at the heart of the debate over the Plan.
FCAR’s 2018 Legislative Committee Chair Peter Murray spoke on behalf of FCAR at the hearing. While expressing our support for the protection of area landowners and the willingness of the Council to seek a solution, FCAR urged the Council to seek a unified River Plan within a single document as the most effective means of ending future controversy over protecting the waterway.
FCAR has also been active in meeting with individual Council members and drafting revisions to the Plan to achieve a needed compromise. The Monocacy River Citizen’s Advisory Board is currently considering incorporating those revisions into an updated draft of the River Plan.
