Urgent! Take Action TODAY to Extend Flood Insurance Program!
NAR is calling on you to take action now to extend the National Flood Insurance Program. Without Congressional approval, the program will expire on September 30, threatening thousands of real estate transactions across the county which depend on flood insurance coverage. The 21st Century Flood Reform Act, a measure combining seven House proposals on the NFIP, provides both critical reforms sought by NAR and a long-term extension of the NFIP.
The House of Representatives will only be in session for 12 days before the program expires. Congress must act on the 21st Century Flood Reform Act currently before the House, as it is the only viable legislation that can pass before the deadline.
Tell Congress to approve a long-term extension of the NFIP today! Click here to make your voice heard!
Flood Insurance Facts:
The NFIP covers 5 million homes in 22,000 communities nationwide.
Each lapse in the NFIP program delays or cancels transactions at a rate of 40,000 sales per month.
The 21st Century Flood Reform Act contains several program reforms sought by NAR, including:
- greater access to private market flood insurance coverage,
- caps on annual policy rate increases,
- the ability to leverage flood mitigation funds before disasters occur, and
- more accurate flood plain mapping.
It also retains grandfathering of insurance premium rates currently offered to homeowners who experience flood map changes. For more information:

RPAC works hand in hand with our federal, state and local lobbying efforts to elect Realtor® champions to office and implement legislation that promotes homeownership.
FCAR is just $3,000 short of its 2017 fundraising goal. Your investment of $20 (or more) will help us reach it – and allow us continued successes like these:
- Defeating legislation to require BAT Septic Systems statewide, saving $8-10,000 at installation and $500 in increased annual operation costs;
- Preventing sales taxes on real estate commissions, saving $120 annually for each $30,000 in commissions; and,
- Lowering closing costs for first-time homebuyers, allowing thousands of additional buyers to qualify for home purchases
A Fair Share investment of $20 comes out to just 40 cents per week, or less than 6 cents per day. That’s a great return on your investment. To make an online investment today, click here.
