New Law Regarding Carbon Monoxide Alarms Takes Effect April 1, 2018
This Spring has brought significant changes to not only the smoke alarm law, but the requirements for carbon monoxide alarms. Considering that the sufficiency of these alarms are addressed in a home inspection and in the State Residential Property Disclosure Statement, is it critical to understand your responsibility as a homeowner, landlord, or Realtor® advising clients. Read on to ensure your compliance with the new law effective April 1, 2018 and the additional measures you can take to reduce the risk of injury or death caused by carbon monoxide.

What Portion of My Dues are NON-Deductible for Tax Purposes?
Membership Dues that Realtors® paid for the 2017-2018 fiscal year (from Nov. 1, 2017 to Oct. 31, 2018) were allocated as follows: $299 to FCAR, $206 to MD Realtors® and $155 to NAR. The non-deductible portion of NAR dues is $52, MD dues is $19, and FCAR dues is $10. For those that contributed to RPAC, these contributions are used for political purposes and are not deductible.
Membership Dues that Realtors® paid for the 2016-2017 fiscal year were allocated as follows: $199 to FCAR, $223 to MD, and $155 to NAR. The non-deductible portion of NAR dues is $50, MD dues is $45, and FCAR dues is $9. For those that contributed to RPAC. these contributions are used for political purposes and are not deductible.
