About the Event
DID YOU KNOW: More than 350,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur in the United States each year, with about 70% happening in homes. That’s why this February during American Heart Month the American Heart Association sheds light on the importance of knowing Hands-Only CPR. This year’s heart month theme, “Be the Beat,” urges people to be the beat it takes to keep someone alive by learning the two simple steps it takes to save a life (calling 911 and starting chest compressions).
FCAR is excited to “be the beat” by celebrating Heart Month on Thursday, February 23. During this time, the American Heart Association will host a Hands-Only CPR demonstration. Why? Because losing even one person to cardiovascular disease is too much. Together, let’s wear and rock our red—and share our red—all to help save more lives.
Please wear red accessories and attire, then snap a photo and send it to joe@fcar.org. Don’t forget to post on social media and use the hashtag #GoRedMD #FCARhasHeart
For more information about how you can GO RED, feel free to email our American Heart Association representative at Rachel.Ricketts-Uy@heart.org.
Two half-hour sessions are available at 1:00 and 1:30 PM.
