Frederick County Association of REALTORS Young Professional Network announces their support of Up & Out Foundation. Up & Out is a local foundation started by Korey Shorb, originally to provide money to the Frederick County Drug Courts Program. However, it is growing in scope and mission due to the ever increasing epidemic of drug use in Frederick County.
The Frederick County chapter of YPN will support Up & Out as part of their mission to become involved in the community. Fund raising events, such as a Bowling Tournament, an Awards Gala in October and a games tournament scheduled for this summer are a few of the events scheduled. Also, they will be providing assistance for the Annual Up & Out’s Run for Recovery scheduled for this August.
Korey says the financial support will enable the foundation in several ways: to assist recovering addicts with admission to recovery houses, to pay for drug treatment medicine and expand the resources and programs they offer and ultimately open a recovery house. “I can’t really express in words what this means to our foundation. This will help us immensely. You all have no clue. I promise you there’s going to be some lives saved with this money.”
“Up & Out helps to get people off the habits that could kill them. Relapse does not have to be part of recovery. There’s someone who can help you,” explained Korey. Up & Out offers that lifeline for help. They help those who wish to make a change navigate the resources and gain access to different programs. Korey Shorb is a prolific spokesman for Up & Out. He has also spoken to high school students, college students, churches and clubs.
